Overview
A lot of you have noticed that I have started to categorize articles. Which will allow better cross referencing, by listing related subjects (Categories) at the bottom of an article / a sub-category
For this to happen consistently more and more pages are being converted into this category system. The end result in most cases is that for each mayor subject, there are two types of pages. A "regular" page, and a "category" page of the same/similar name.
One (or more) regular page(s) will redirect to the particular Category Page. You can see that happen each time when you see the words "redirected from xxxx" just underneath the page title.
Here is the link to the Wikipedia Article about Categories: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Category
Reasons
This still allows to reference a subject in normal text like this: ((planets)) planets Instead of having to write ((:Category:Planets)) Category:Planets which does not look that good.
Further, if you add a category to a category page itself, this page is then referenced on the target category page as a "Sub-Category" and not an "article", which can result in some links appearing in different areas on the target page which again does not look that good, and is confusing, eg one planet listed as a sub-category, the other as an article.
In those cases I add this category link to the redirect page (which is still classified as an article) and not to the category page.
In this context you will note that there are actually three "Glossary" pages.
a regular page "Glossary" which redirects to the "Category:Glossary" where all references are listed as articles
and another category page "Category:Glossar" (note the missing "r") that as well redirects to the "Category:Glossary" page.
"Why?!" - You may ask, well if I want a back link to the "Glossary" on any category page, it would start creating subcategories, which would be very confusing. So on articles I reference ((Category:Glossary)) and on categories I reference ((Category:Glossar)) Both links ending up on the same target page, where you only find a neat list of articles.
Examples
Further when you specify a Category using e.g. ((Category:Planet)), you can specify as well a sort key.
Example: Some Facilities are not present at all planets, and Ship Yards for example have as well a Starship Company managing them. So on the Ship Yard regular page I referenced each planet that has a ship yard, and specified a sort key that this article would be listed as the first occurrence under the letter "S" Eg ((Category:Cetus|SA)) ((Category:Serio|SA)) etc with "SA" being the sort key.
On the particular Starship company regular page I did a similar thing, I again referenced the Planet as a Category, with a sort key that puts the company name right below the "Ship Yard" entry.
eg: for Primus you find ((Category:Primus|SA)) on the ship yard regular page, and ((Category:Primus|SB)) on the Fleet Dynamics regular page.
Result, whey you view the Primus planet page (which is redirected to the Primus category page) you will see
S
Questions?
To browse the information it should make it easier. Editing and adding new categories etc, might be a little bit more complicate, but the end result, should be worth it.

Can't find a Page?
Have a look in the toolbox to the left of this article. There is a link "Special Pages".
Explore there. It for example allows you to list all pages that are doing re-directs Special:Listredirects, or all pages that do not link any further. Special:Deadendpages Or pages that (currently) do not have links from any other page.
As well pages that still need to be created. --> Special:Wantedpages --> Special:Wantedcategories
To get a summary of all the categories, simply click on the word "Category" at the bottom of a categorized page.
