Game Objective
The aim of CS Galaxies is to survive - After that it's up to you how you choose to play! You can be a simple Miner, or a Ruler of the Galaxy - a Bounty Hunter or the Bounty. There's an entire Universe to discover, and the only limit to what you can achieve is yourself.
Signing Up
After typing in your E-mail and password it's time to pick a character name and a ship name. Make sure you pick a good character name because that's how people will know you in the game and your character name can only be changed when you are destroyed. Your ship name is important as well but it can be changed at any time by editing it in Options. Now it's time to choose your start ship. You have three to choose from each with different stats and each suited to a different occupation.
- GN-302 - A small attack ship suited for planetary fleets and bounty hunters (If you're joining the first time, it's advised to NOT take this ship, as it's hard to get any profits from fighting just right on the start)
- CX-1300 - A good ship for a merchant or trader thanks to its large cargo hold
- MS-200 - The only starting ship that can mine asteroids
Once you've picked a start ship all you need to do is click the register button.
Game View
In CS Galaxies there are four distinctive ways of viewing the universe:
- Known Universe - The Known Universe displays all 10 galaxies, known (4) and unknown (6).
- Galactic Map - The Galactic Map displays the galaxy you are currently in, showing all the Planets and the various Quadrants.
- Quadrant View - The Quadrant View is the main moving screen, showing a large number of Sectors around your ship.
- Sector View - The Sector View is the standard view, showing the sector you're in and a few sectors around you.
Moving
There are two ways to move around galaxies: Light Speed and Hyper Jump. Both of these use Turns but the more advanced your ship's Navigation and Jumpdrive systems are, then the less Turns it will take and the further you can travel.
Hyper Jump also uses up Fuel Rods which need to be replenished from time to time at a Dry Dock. If you run out of fuel, you will have to use light speed to return to a dry dock to refuel.

Trading
The main way to make money in CS Galaxies is through Trading. By comparing the prices of Items on different Planets and buying low and selling high, a trader can make some cold hard Credits.

Mining
A good way to make money is to get a mining ship and find yourself an Asteroid. You can then mine it for various ores which you can sell or refine for greater profits.

Star Lining

Defending
A defensive team can be recruited at a each planet's Merc Tavern to provide some security on your ship to thwart another pilot sending spies to infiltrate your ship at a Space Dock in order to hack your credits or sabotage your ship. Your ship's available quarters determines the number of recruits you can hire. The experience level of recruits at a planet's Merc Tavern varies, level 10 being the most experienced. Spies fill quarters on the victim's ship just like recruits.
Attacking
If you make enemies easily or decide to become a Bounty Hunter then attacking is going to be an important part of CS Galaxies.

Your First Few Days
You should spend this time reading through this Wiki, and the Forums as well. You're free to contact one of the many Factions or Governments and apply to join them while you're still learning the game. Many factions or governments will require you to change your homeworld to theirs, but in return, often offer loans to help purchase a better ship.
During their first 5 days all new players are protected from attack, unless they attack another player.
