The Black Rose Alliance was founded by Viedari in 3935 CE to serve as the economic faction for Vorax and the Order of the Black Thorn. In their early days, the BRA focussed primarily on mining, trading, and other peaceful endeavors aimed at building wealth.

After the Dark War, orders were no longer allowed to control sectors. This was the catalyst for radical change in the BRA. The Order of the Black Thorn was no longer positioned to be able to directly control sectors and outposts, and this was the faction that had led Zaltais’ growing empire. Viedari gave her faction to Zaltais, and the BRA became the leading faction. While the BRA has always provided a home for some peaceful players, it was at this time that the BRA gained it’s more military character for which it is still famous today.

In 4273 Zaltais led the BRA to become the ruling faction of Solia. At that time Solia was the only known galaxy in the universe, and the BRA enjoyed a unique status and a position of incomparable power. Their position has become more secure over time through their ongoing efforts to maintain their relationships with their alliances and pledges, and their careful management of Solian economic growth and the BRA’s income.

The BRA and it’s pledged factions had developed especially close ties to the Exillis Rain Alliance. Their friendship continued until the founding of the Solian Imperial Republic. That friendship was the foundation for the Black Rain Protectorate, a large protective alliance that included a number of planets as well. The relationship between the ERA and BRA was mutually beneficial for a time. The ERA provided assistance to the BRA in some military matters, and the BRA helped to support their friends in the ERA financially. Ultimately the goals of the ERA and BRA were divergent, and it was probably never possible for them to remain allies indefinitely.

Finally, the Solian Imperial Republic was founded by Zaltais and the BRA. With Zaltais serving as the Imperator and each planet able to be represented, the SIR offered a new opportunity for Solians to present a united front agains all threats. As the ruling faction in Solia, and the home faction of the SIR’s Imperator, the BRA has become inextricably intertwined with the SIR.

The creation of the SIR and it’s military arm, the Praetorian Fleet, created tension between the BRA and ERA. The ERA regarded itself as the premier military faction in Solia, and worried that the formation of the SIR would threaten their status and prevent them from continuing to prey on small factions and governments to earn their money through pirating and hacking. The ERA attacked the SIR early in it’s formation to try to prevent it from coming together. They began stealing starbases and destroying the peaceful miners and traders that provide the bulk of the income to governments. The SIR and BRA responded decisively, and the at the end of this first war between the SIR and the ERA, the SIR and BRA forces were the clear winners.

Eventually the BRA discovered a plot by Sickshadow and Shakyamuni of Omnis to overthrow the BRA. Blaed (formerly of Aeger) was instrumental in the BRA’s operation to seek out potential traitors, and to expose Sickshadow and Shakyamuni. Blaed’s evidence that Sickshadow and Shakyamuni were willing to act against the BRA was particularly sensitive because Omnis had a hidden pledge to the BRA. The BRA and SIR forces worked together to destroy Sickshadow and Shakyamuni, which threw their empire into elections. Their many pledges were dissolved, and their empire fell into disarray. Some of their followers went to Casia, where Shakyamuni and the remnants of his empire allied with the ERA to go to war against the SIR and BRA again. This was the first intergalactic war and the second war against the ERA, and once again the BRA and SIR dominated the fight.

Following the second war against the ERA, Solia has enjoyed a long period of peace under the BRA’s rule. There have been occasional minor threats such as the Solian Liberation Committee or the swarm, but the BRA has never permitted an enemy to become as powerful as the ERA again.

Zaltais has Self-destucted for unknown reasons.
